Our Story

Bits and bites brought a cherry-picking girl, who likes to enjoy life, and a certain Mr Darcy, without the estates,  unexpectedly together over a winter evening. Back then, when life was still governed by Covid and curfews, Rochelle bold as she is, invited Bert to an exposition in Antwerp. And so our story begins.

We knew it was a good first date when even a 2 hour wait at the entrance was very enjoyable. Antwerp was definitely setting the scene for the most romantic night with festive lights, a full moon and a chill to make us hold each other - it was magical. Over the months to follow the magic did not fade but grew into friendship and love as we bonded through our love of food, travel and silliness.

Where to Stay

The ceremony takes place in Ghent. The dinner and party is in Moorsel, a village 5-10 minutes from the city of Aalst. Consider staying at Hostellerie De Biek (https://www.hostelleriedebiek.be), a cozy and quality restaurant and hotel alike at 5 minutes from the party venue. Be fast as rooms are limited.
> Alternatively several B&B can be found around Moorsel. We found B&B Den Boomgaard (http://www.denboomgaardmoorsel.be/) and a bit further the one-room Mille étoiles (https://www.mille-etoiles.be/)
> Multiple hotels are located in and around Aalst. Close to the E40 is the more budget oriented Hotel ibis Aalst Centrum. Other hotels include the Keizershof Hotel (https://www.keizershof-hotel.com/nl/), the Tower Hotel and the Royal Astrid.

Planning

Your visit

When in Belgium, we recommend visiting the historic cities of Ghent, Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp almost have to be on the agenda. Staying in Ghent as your starting point for visiting Flanders shortly before and after the wedding might be an option. If planning the wedding as part of a bigger holiday, contact us for help on where to stay.
