We Share the Best Way to Collect Every Wedding Photo in One Place

When we tied the knot, we spent more time looking for a professional wedding photographer than we did looking for any other vendor. Because we knew that once that last champagne bottle had been popped, and we were jetting off on our honeymoon, the only thing we'd have left from our celebration was photo and video. We treasured the images of us saying "I do", the pictures of us dancing down the aisle, and the numerous photos of us fighting back the tears! These cherished memories were so heartwarming to look back on in the weeks and months following our big day. But you know what? We didn't love them as much as the snapshots taken by our wedding guests!

The professional photography we had taken of us was, of course, amazing, and the images decorate the walls of our home. But those photos mainly featured the big moments. The wedding ceremony, group shots, and scheduled events during the reception. There were candid shots in-between, but they just couldn't compare with seeing moments unfold from the eyes of our guests. We were able to see our friends and family mingling during the reception. Experience our ceremony unfold from the perspective of almost every guest! And get a feel for how much our loved ones truly enjoyed the entire wedding day.

However, for us, the task of collating our wedding guest photos was not quite so joyous... We hadn't anticipated how many photos we'd receive. As a result, we failed to set up a single clear channel for guests to send their photos through. Meaning we were sent pictures via DMs, text, WhatsApp, email, and, unbelievably, the post. Yep, some of our older relatives printed and posted their mobile phone pictures! Bless 'em. Overall, it was pretty chaotic and time-consuming. But what it taught us was that there must be a better way.

A simple, smart, and fast way for guests to upload their photos on the wedding day, or in the days that followed. A portal that can be effortlessly accessed and managed by the couple. The solution, we decided, was a unique QR code created especially for guest photo sharing. Intrigued? Let's get into it.

Why Wedding Guest Photo Sharing Matters

These days, everyone has a phone in their pocket capable of taking photos almost as good as any professional camera could. This accessibility means guests can instantly snap the wedding moments a photographer would likely miss. Like that time Grandma sneaked onto the dance floor when her song came on. Or when your best friend from work spilled a full glass of red wine down herself during cocktail hour—not great timing Jenny! These wedding memories should not be lost (although Jenny would probably rather forget), and they should be cherished as they offer authenticity.

You both spent countless hours preparing for the big day, fully aware that you could only witness a small portion of the celebrations yourselves. Allowing guests to share photos gives you the opportunity to experience more of the big day. To enjoy the parts you did see all over again, and open up pockets of the event you might have missed.

For us, some of the funniest and most touching images in our photo album captured by loved ones. And they, together with our professional photos, helped tell the genuine story of our wedding.

Wedding Photo Sharing Used to be Unpredictable

We're not the only ones who experienced the pain of collecting event photos from guests. Friends and family would often moan about those guests who'd promise to send photos, but never do. Or those that send duplicate photos on Dropbox and Facebook, requiring you to manually pick out which shots were sent twice. It was always a hassle and often meant dealing with guests one by one. Which, in theory, is lovely, and it's sometimes great to catch up with loved ones post-wedding. But we found it to be a little overwhelming. Which is why we created a solution!

The Solution: a Wedding QR Code for Photos

The days of chasing wedding guests for photos and repeatedly receiving blurry, mismatched photos are over. Because you can now provide your guests with a simple wedding photo QR code. The easiest way for guests to upload photos taken on the day directly from their phones, and browse images taken by other guests - and your photographer! Want to know how it works? Keep scrolling.

As part of our free wedding website builder, we provide couples with their own unique and FREE QR code for wedding pictures. This QR code can be instantly added to their wedding website, allowing guests to upload digital photos directly there. But it can also be exported and added to wedding stationery. Which is when having a QR code for wedding photos is the most useful! As you want guests to be able to see your QR code on their table, and easily upload their photo collection in the moment. Without the need to sign up to a website, or download an app.

We heard from one of our couples recently who used our wedding QR code for their photos. And they said they used it on all of their wedding stationery! Ceremony programs, menus, table numbers etc. They even printed a huge version and positioned it near the bar so guests could upload photos while waiting for drinks. Throughout the celebration, guests snapped and scanned, capturing every beautiful moment of chaos! Following the big day, our couple were lying on a sun lounger somewhere, no doubt sipping an ice-cold cocktail. When they remembered their wedding album, and logged into their site. They were thrilled with what they found! They discovered hundreds of candid shots that captured moments they'd missed and memories they loved, viewed from a fresh perspective.

A Wedding Gallery Featuring Professional & Guest Photography

We love wedding guest pictures, as you might have guessed! But we also love professional photography, and we know your guests will want to see the stunning shots taken by your photographer. Which is why we designed our FREE wedding photo album as somewhere guests can upload on, and browse images from other guests and your professional photographer.

You'll have full control over your wedding photo QR code and connected gallery, allowing you to display exactly what you want on your online album. Would you like to share only wedding photos from your guests? You can curate your favorites and arrange them how you see fit. Perhaps you'd rather use our gallery as a semi-private place to share your professional wedding photos? Away from prying eyes on social media! Our personal preference is a blend of the two. The best moments from your guests mixed in with highlights from the photographer.

We know that our couples like to use their wedding website long after their big day as a place for guests to revisit and share memories. Which is why we designed our photo sharing app to be as much about uploading as it is about viewing. A unique online space created exclusively for you and your guests. Where every memory of the day can be found, curated by you.

QR Code Photo Sharing Made Easy

We've been to numerous weddings over the years and used lots of different QR codes for wedding pictures. And this hands-on experience helped us design what we believe is the best wedding QR code for photos. Here's why!

  • Anyone can upload to your gallery and no sign up is required. As long as your guests can scan the QR code, they can share photos with you, instantly.
  • You control the digital photo gallery. Between you and your partner, you both have the power to decide which photos feature in the gallery and which are deleted. Because let's face it, they're not all going to be good, or flattering! Which is why we let you decide what's featured.
  • Control who can upload. You may only want a select group of people contributing to your gallery. Individuals that you know will take great pictures and whom you can trust to capture moments the photographer might miss. We give you the power to only let those people upload. And hide the feature from others on your wedding website.
  • Save everything in 1 click. Whether you're downloading in stages following the big day, or waiting until everyone has had time to contribute. We make it super quick to save everything at once. In one click, you can download every photo in your gallery into a zip file. Ready to be stored, shared, or displayed as you wish.

How to Collect Photos with a QR Code: Step by Step

Setting up our QR code for wedding photos is so straightforward, and your guests will love how simple the process is for them. To give you an idea of just how easy it is, we've put together a quick step-by-step to show you how it's done.

1. Add the photo sharing widget to your wedding website

Once you've finished creating your wedding website on our platform, you can then simply add our widget for photo sharing. In a couple of clicks you'll have a unique QR code that blends seamlessly with your site, and stationery. The color of your QR code can be altered by inputting a chosen HEX code, or by discovering the perfect tone on our color wheel.

2. Share your wedding photo QR code online and offline

We've designed our QR code to be super useful online and IRL. So when you're perfectly happy with the color of your QR code, you can then easily download it in either SVG or PDF format. Your stationery designer will advise you on which you should choose, but they'll likely ask for the SVG, as that'll be the easiest for them to use. Either way, your unique code can be downloaded in one click.

3. Guests scan and upload their wedding photos

We provide free storage for 30 photos, or space for 1000 photos with our premium option. Which is ideal if you're unsure of how many photos you're likely to display in your album, or how many you're going to receive post-wedding. We give you the option to expand your album as your wedding journey progresses. You'll find more information about our premium option within your personal project, in the website builder section.

4. Manage Your Gallery

Whether you go premium, or stick with the free option, you're in control of your gallery. You can delete, add, and rearrange as you wish. You can also limit who can and cannot upload to your gallery. Want your album to be view-only? Hide the ability to upload completely.

5. Save every memory all in one place

Feel like everyone has had a chance to upload? In one click, you can download every photo into a handy zip file. No confusing links or folders to sort through. Just one click and every memory is saved.
