Wedding Program Fan
Our service has assisted tens of thousands of couples worldwide in planning their dream weddings!
Wedding Program Fan — Design It Free, Print It on a Fan
A wedding program fan is the order-of-the-day program printed on a card and mounted on a stick or paddle, so guests can read the schedule and fan themselves. It’s the go-to for hot, sunny and outdoor ceremonies — equal parts practical favor and pretty keepsake.
Here’s the honest part: our tool is a free design tool, not a fan-assembly kit. You create a print-ready file here, then print it on cardstock and attach it to a fan stick (yourself or via a print service). This page shows how to design for a fan and put it together. For a flat card instead, start at printable wedding program; for the wording, see program wording.

Your names, date and schedule come from your project, so the file you print is correct and matches your other stationery before you spend anything on sticks or assembly.
Design once and reuse the look: the same typography carries to your welcome sign and day-of stationery, so the fan doesn’t look like an orphan.
Prefer a flat card for indoor tables and a fan for the outdoor ceremony? Export the same design both ways — see printable wedding program.
PLANNING . WEDDING — is easy to remember and even easier to use.
How to Get a Program Fan From Our Tool
Four steps: design the card, export it, print on cardstock, and mount it on a stick.
- Design the program here — layout, fonts, colors and your order of the day.
- Export a print-ready file at your fan-card size (a tall 4×9 or a rounded paddle shape).
- Print on heavy cardstock — single- or double-sided — and cut to shape.
- Mount on a fan stick — glue or staple a wooden paddle or jumbo craft stick to the back.

Why a Fan — and When
A program fan solves a real problem and looks lovely doing it. It shines in specific situations:
- Hot or summer weddings — guests stay comfortable through the ceremony.
- Outdoor and beach ceremonies — sun and heat make a fan genuinely useful, not just decorative.
- Long ceremonies — religious or bilingual services where guests are seated a while.
- Destination weddings — a fan doubles as a keepsake guests are happy to take home.

How to Assemble the Fan
Assembly is simple DIY, or hand the file to a print service that does it for you. The basics:
- Stock — print on 100–120 lb cardstock so the fan is rigid enough to wave.
- Single vs double-sided — print the program on one side, or the order of service on the front and order of the day on the back.
- Stick — a flat wooden paddle, a jumbo craft stick, or a thin dowel, attached with strong double-sided tape or glue.
- Finish — round the corners or die-cut a scalloped edge for a softer, more polished shape.
Fan Formats
Three common fan formats, all from the same design:
- Single paddle — one rigid card on a stick. The simplest and most popular.
- Double-sided paddle — order of service one side, order of the day the other.
- Folding / layered fan — a couple of stacked cards on one stick for longer ceremonies.
Sizes, Sticks & Cost
Program fans are usually a tall 4×9 inches or a rounded paddle about 5–6 inches wide. Sticks and assembly add a little cost and time over a flat card — which is exactly why designing the file free (and getting it right) before you print and build matters.
Export at the exact card size you’ll print so the stick and shape line up. For full size guidance and home-vs-shop printing, see the printable wedding program page.

Why Design It With Our Tool First
A fan is the one program format you don’t want to misprint, because a remake means re-cutting and re-gluing physical pieces. Designing free here lets you perfect the layout, size and wording before any printing or assembly.
It’s free, there’s no sign-up, the file matches the rest of your stationery, and you can re-export at a new size or color the moment you change your mind — long before the sticks come out.
