Who pays for what: the breakdown by payers

Note who makes each payment and see how much each person has paid.

When parents or relatives chip in, write down who makes each payment. The budget then adds up how much each person has paid.

Step by step

  1. Step 1Turn on payment tracking

In the budget’s Settings → Show advanced options, switch on Amound Paid / Due — see Track payments and deposits.

  2. Step 2Write who pays

Open an item’s Track Payments (click its amount paid) and, in each payment, type the initials in Initials of Payer — for example “AB” for the bride’s parents. Use the same initials every time for the same person.

Track Payments for the Band: a 1,500 deposit paid in cash by AB and a 3,000 balance by credit card from TB, not paid yet
  3. Step 3Open the breakdown

Under the budget, click Breakdown by payers. The button appears once a payment has an amount.

Breakdown by payers: Total paid 1,500; AB 1,500 with the Band deposit; TB 0 with the Band balance marked not paid

What the breakdown shows

  • Total paid — everything already paid, by everyone.
  • One card per payer with the sum they have paid, then each of their payments: the item, its category, what it is for, the pay date, the type and the amount.
  • Payments still to make are listed with a “not paid” tag and don’t count in the sums.
  • Payments without initials are gathered under Not specified.

Tips and important notes

  • The person who has paid the most is listed first.
  • “AB” and “A.B.” count as two different payers — keep the initials the same.
