Seat guests automatically

Fill the free seats in one click — by role, closest to the couple first — and undo it in one step.

Automatic seating fills the free seats of the chart from your guest list: guests are placed by their role, the closest people nearest the couple, families side by side. You can then swap anyone by dragging.

Step by step

  1. Step 1Open automatic seating

In the editor, click Seat guests automatically in the panel on the right (or File → Seat guests automatically).

The Seat guests automatically window: who to seat, guests already seated and the button to run it
  2. Step 2Choose who and how

    • Who to seat — everyone in the list or only the guests who confirmed (the ceremony, the reception or both).
    • Guests already seated — Keep them, fill the free seats, or Reseat everyone (The couple keeps their seats).
  3. Step 3Run it

Click Seat the guests automatically. The report shows Seated now, Were already seated and Left without a seat.

The report: Seated now 7, Were already seated 1, Left without a seat 0

Tips and important notes

  • Guests who declined are never seated.
  • Don’t like the result? Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on a Mac) undoes the whole seating at once; it is also saved in History.
  • If guests are left without a seat, there are more guests than free seats — add tables or seats and run it again with Keep them, fill the free seats.
  • Automatic seating is free; on the free plan it fills the tables your chart can have (up to 5).
