Guest roles and the wedding party
Choose who each guest is — maid of honour, best man, bridesmaid, parent, friend — and see what the role changes.
Every guest has a role, shown above their name. You choose it when you add the guest, and you can change it at any time.
The roles
- Bride and Groom — the couple. They are always in the list.
- Maid-of-honor or Matron-of-honor on the bride’s side and Best man on the groom’s — one each. Once you have one, it disappears from the add menu.
- Bridesmaid and Groomsmen — as many as you need.
- Parent, Close relative, Relative, Close Friend, Friend and Partner — on either side.
- Bride’s witness and Groom’s witness — one or two on each side, when the interface is in French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovenian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Turkish, Russian or Ukrainian.
- Godmother and Godfather — the wedding sponsors, when the interface is in Romanian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian or Greek.
Change a guest’s role
Click the figure next to the guest’s name and choose another role in Who Is. The same profile has Flower Girl and Ring Bearer switches for the children with these jobs.

What the role is used for
- The list is grouped and ordered by role — the couple first, then the wedding party.
- A guest you haven’t named yet is shown by the role, so the seating chart says “Best man” instead of leaving the seat blank.
- Automatic seating seats the wedding party next to the couple and the closest family and friends nearest to them.
Tips and important notes
- In a project for another kind of event, the person the event is for is the Chief guest.
- Despite its name, the Wedding party counter under the list counts the couple and everyone on the list — see Guest statistics.
- How to add guests with a role: Add guests to your guest list.
